There is nothing more “tasty” and greedy than a dish of snails in sauce, baked “canestrini” or simple mussels and clams “alla marinara”.
So how about learning more about Seafood before enjoying the great variety our restaurants offer?
The first thing to do is definitely a visit to the Museum of the Regina (Museo della Regina) in the section dedicated to traditional seafaring. This section presents the culture of the “Sea people”. An exhibition starting from the birth of the Harbour in the Early Modern age, documenting the developments in shipbuilding, navigation techniques and fishing, the religious, social, and everyday lives of maritime communities. Free Admission for everyone.
At the Harbour take part to the excursions of the mussel farm, about 2 miles away from the Coast of Cattolica, where there is one of the largest mussel nurseries of the Region.
Located in class “A” waters, it is a semi-floating system with row breeding, made in braid.
The nursery seems boundless as it gets lost on the horizon and the view is truly unique.
Back in the city, the only doubt you will have is which shellfish to taste first!
