This year’s edition of ‘Vele al Terzo – Gathering of Historical Boats” will feature a double event that will enrich the traditional gathering of historical boats with an event dedicated to memories, poems and songs of seafaring tradition.
VELE AL TERZO 2024
In particular, on Friday 26th July at 9 pm, the garden of the Museo della Regina will host the event “Voci dalla tradizione marinara”: Songs, poems, memories.
There will be a reading of dialect poems by Dorigo Vanzolini of the Cattolica Centro Culturale Polivalente and the narration of anecdotes and memories by Franco Mascilongo, ANMI-National Association of Sailors of Italy, which will be interspersed with singing interludes by the Cultural Association ‘LA CANTA’ taken from the rich repertoire of traditional maritime songs.
On Saturday 27th July, the Cattolica-Gabicce Port will host the traditional gathering-sailing event organised by the Museo della Regina together with the Association ‘La Mariegola delle vele al terzo e delle barche da lavoro delle Romagne’ which brings together the ports of the Romagna coast whose work and fishing boats were characterised by lug sails.
Starting at 11.00 am, a large flotilla made up of boats from Cattolica, Cesenatico, Cervia, Bellaria, Rimini, and Riccione will arrive at the Cattolica-Gabicce port.
In the early afternoon, around 3.00 pm, the fleet, captained by Cattolica’s ‘Marzia’ lance, will sail in the waters off Gabicce and Cattolica and then return to the port.
In case of adverse weather conditions, the gathering will be postponed to Sunday 28th July.
